Talking or Dating?

Talking. We basically have all been there. It's the stage before dating someone. Sometimes people do not even make it to the dating stage from talking. But, does talking mean we are single or does it mean we are practically taken?

Parents constantly question this thing called talking. The older generation thinks if you are talking to someone and go out with them you are dating them. Little do they know that our generation is way confusing.

I personally think that if you are talking to someone for at least 2 weeks, you should only be talking to them... especially if you are going out with them. I feel that talking to multiple people for a long period of time can hurt people especially if you have to wind up ghosting them in the end. Ghosting people after feelings begin hurts. This is where feelings start to form and this can cause more mental health problems than just one. I think you can almost immediately tell if you like someone and hold a connection with them.

Talking to different people for a long time can not only hurt the person you are talking to, but you can wind up hurting yourself. You can be caught in lies, especially if you are hiding everyone you are talking to. Yes, single is single but when you are going out there, most people are not looking to hurt people, but finding maybe a potential partner. If people think that using all different people for their own good is beneficial, they need to talk to someone for help. You should definitely date different people until that line of seriousness comes in or you have the talk of being exclusive. If you are pursuing intercourse with someone, it is not right to be talking to anyone else, in my personal opinion. I have had experience with this and watched my friends go through similar things. Talking to someone and making it like you are all about them while doing stuff with them, leads them on and makes them feel inferior. It even makes them question themselves and what they are doing wrong.

I think a lot of people have different opinions of this. I decided to do a poll on my Instagram to see what people thought. Seventy-three percent of people say they are dedicated to people they talk to. This means before a relationship, these people focus on one person. Twenty-seven percent of people said when they are single they are single. This means they talk to multiple people. In today’s terms, people will call boys who talk to a lot of girls “fuckboys” and girls who talk to a lot of boys “whores”. A lot of people think that terms need to be official (boyfriend and girlfriend) in order to be loyal. I think loyalty starts from the beginning. You need to show the person you are loyal in order to eventually pursue something with them. If you don’t want to pursue something and are talking to them for a while… what is the point?

Some people privately messaged me on Instagram and told me they are somewhere in the middle. They do not agree, but they do not disagree. They told me yes, single is single, but if you have been talking to the person for a long time you need to respect them. Talking is basically our dating. You need to talk about with the person you are talking to if they see the talking stage during into something, otherwise it is time to move on.

"We all need someone to talk to, someone who listens, someone who understands."

That's the tea
